Samaritan Homeless Clinic: Fueling Success

When Max first came to the clinic, he had just been released from prison, where he spent the majority of his adult life. He suffered from PTSD, anxiety, and severe chronic back pain. Due to his chronic back pain, he could not stand up straight and needed to use a cane. He was too anxious to ride the bus or go to the grocery store, making it difficult for him to buy daily necessities.

The Samaritan Homeless Clinic served over 2,600 patients last year thanks in large part to gifts made through the Good Samaritan Foundation.

Upon arriving at the clinic, Max started meeting with the Mental Health Therapist, Joe Cimoch. Max was also able to work with the clinic’s medical team to resolve his back issues. The clinic’s social workers assisted him with Medicaid enrollment, and he regularly visits the clinic’s dentist and dental hygienist.

Now, Max has his own apartment, does his own grocery shopping, and is able to comfortably ride the bus. He even takes care of his own grandchildren. Thanks to the medical team, Max can stand up straight, and he no longer walks with a cane. While he came to the clinic broken in every way, the Samaritan Homeless Clinic and its team helped Max make positive life changes that have helped him live an independent and fulfilling life.
