Gifts that Support Employees of Good Samaritan Hospital

In 2014, Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation provided funding to purchase the SimMan® 3G, a simulation manikin that delivers cutting edge technology for Good Samaritan Hospital nurses for training and continued education. SimMan® 3G enables instructors to create an emergency scenario to help nurses learn how to perform, step-by-step, in crises. Additionally, SimMan® 3G is completely wireless, therefore the manikin can be easily moved from floor to floor so each department can train and learn from this technology.

In 2015, Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation worked with Hospital administration to fund 50% of the Lift Team, who were hired in April 2016.

In an effort to minimize the risk of injury to staff, the Lift Team is a group of trained specialists who lift and move patients throughout the hospital. The Lift Team is available by calling an internal number and making a request. The Lift Team is the Hospital’s and Foundation’s way of giving back to Good Samaritan staff by ensuring that the health and safety of all employees is a top priority.

In 2013, Good Samaritan Hospital became home to a state-of-the-art fitness center, which features elliptical machines, recumbent bicycles and free weights. It occupies the space that was formerly the pharmacy, and easily fits 30 people. The Fitness Center makes it easier than ever for hospital employees and physicians to exercise and live a healthy lifestyle. It is free for employees to use and open 24/7, making it easier for those on an unconventional schedule to find time to work out. Employees can gain access to the fitness center by contacting Campus Police, ext. 1024. The exercise equipment was purchased through gifts made during the 2012 Employee Friends Campaign.
