Donor Spotlight: Gavin Jenney

Donor Spotlight: Gavin Jenney

“Seeing the homeless of Dayton and their struggles, and knowing that I needed to help.”

That is what drew Gavin Jenney to the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation many years ago. The desire to make a positive impact on the lives of those less fortunate soon developed into a seat on the Foundation’s Board and allowed his affinity for helping others in the Dayton community to be put into action.

“It provides a strong sense of satisfaction having been a part of the team that has provided the good work and made a positive difference in the community,” says Gavin.

50 years ago, Gavin Jenney was assigned to lead a group of engineers at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Moving from California to Ohio, he thought his stay in Dayton would be short lived. He never left. Over the years Gavin and his wife, Carolyn, made roots in Dayton. He began his own company, Dynamic Controls, Inc., and their love for the city of Dayton and its residents continued to grow. It is through this fondness that Gavin felt compelled to help the homeless, making efforts to get them back to health and reengaged in the community.

Gavin’s support of the homeless clinic comes from his belief in their mission to provide accessible and quality care to all of their patients. One memory of the clinic that continues to resonate with Gavin is hearing about how the clinic was once forced to “turn away” patients seeking dental care due to capacity limitations and clinic resources. He is proud that through the efforts of the Foundation, increased dental services are now being offered, allowing more patients to get the help they desperately need.

As he moves on from his time on the board, Gavin plans to remain an avid supporter of the Foundation and its many programs. His dedication to helping others and his many contributions to the Foundation are appreciated by everyone with whom he has crossed paths. We are so grateful for his three terms of service to the Foundation, where he brought the inquiring mind of an engineer to his duties. His fellow board members will remember him for his integrity, active listening, and asking important questions or providing humor when needed.

The Foundation wishes Gavin the best of luck and looks forward to working together to make amazing things happen!
